Live rosin is a solventless cannabis concentrate pressed from frozen, fresh cannabis flower or hash using heat and pressure. Live resin is a solvent-extracted (typically butane) cannabis concentrate produced from frozen, fresh cannabis flower. Cannabis Cured produces both formats at our Maine-licensed in-house extraction lab at the Fairfield campus.
Live rosin (solventless)
Live rosin is pressed from frozen, fresh-frozen cannabis (or from ice-water hash made from fresh-frozen flower) using a rosin press. No butane, no ethanol, no residual solvents to test for. Higher production cost; preserves the freshest terpene profile.
Live resin (solvent-based)
Live resin is butane- or hydrocarbon-extracted from fresh-frozen flower. The 'live' refers to the freezing step at harvest: the plant material is never dried, preserving more volatile terpenes than conventional dried-and-cured extraction. Maine OCP requires residual-solvent testing on every batch.
Choosing between them
Live rosin has a typically smaller terpene-weight ratio but a cleaner profile. Live resin has higher cannabinoid throughput and broader product diversity. Both are compliance-tested by an independent Maine-licensed laboratory before retail release.
Frequently asked
Is live rosin stronger than live resin?
Strength varies by batch. Live rosin typically retains a slightly higher terpene-to-cannabinoid ratio; live resin can hit higher cannabinoid percentages. Strain and extraction conditions matter more than format alone.
Is live rosin solventless?
Yes. Live rosin is pressed using heat and pressure only: no butane, ethanol, or other solvents. Residual-solvent testing is not required because no solvents are used.
Where does Cannabis Cured make its live concentrates?
At our Maine-licensed in-house extraction lab at the Fairfield campus, regulated by Maine OCP.
