Medical vs. Recreational Cannabis in Maine

What the medical menu offers that the recreational menu cannot.

Maine operates both an adult-use (recreational) cannabis program and a registered medical cannabis program. Cannabis Cured serves both programs at its Fairfield, Bangor, and Thomaston campuses.

The Maine framework

Adults 21+ can purchase from recreational menus at any Cannabis Cured location. Registered medical patients have access to the medical menu, which operates under Title 22 with its own tax treatment and patient-only inventory.

Where to find the medical menu

Cannabis Cured runs dedicated medical menus at three Maine medical storefronts: Fairfield, Bangor, and Thomaston.

How to become a Maine medical patient

A Maine-licensed physician certification is required. Visit the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy for the latest process.

Frequently asked

Can I use my medical card from another state?

Maine does not recognize out-of-state medical cannabis cards. Adults 21+ can still purchase from recreational menus.

Do I need a medical card to shop at Cannabis Cured?

Only for medical menu access. Recreational (21+) is open to all adults with valid government ID.
