The Maine Medical Use of Cannabis Program is governed by Title 22 M.R.S. Chapter 558-C and administered by the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy. Registered Maine medical patients (18+) with valid certification can access medical cannabis at three Cannabis Cured medical storefronts: Fairfield (DSP113), Bangor, and Thomaston (DSP118).
Patient registration
Maine medical patients must obtain a written certification from a Maine-registered provider (physician, NP, or PA). The certification specifies that the patient may benefit from medical cannabis. Maine does not require a state-issued patient card, the provider certification serves as the patient credential, presented along with government photo ID at any Cannabis Cured medical storefront.
Who certifies in Maine
Maine-licensed MDs, DOs, NPs, and PAs can certify. There is no statutory list of qualifying conditions in Maine, the certifying provider makes the determination. Lists of certifying providers are maintained by Maine OCP and by the Maine Medical Association.
